I'll start with the piece that got me thinking about starting this series:

The huge Saber roller on Market St that has been running for around a decade.

I skimmed over his book years ago when it came out and I think a blockbuster like this was explained as one of those in-your-face-taunts that was during the time when some LA-based writers were moving to SF and doing it real, real big which sparked a NorCal vs SoCal type of war.

I wasn't here, nor personally know any one involved, so feel free to chime in and add to the story or correct me if I'm wrong.
